Qatar Airways confirmed in a press release issued last month that the Northern Thai city of Chiang Mai is being added to its global route network. Direct flights from Doha Airport in Qatar will launch on 7 December 2017 and will operate four times a week through the winter season. The last flight will take off next May.
Commenting on the addition of Chiang Mai, Qatar Airways CEO Akbar Al Baker explained that demand for holidays in Thailand was on a permanent upward spiral. His Excellency continued by saying a new destination in the north would cater to the demand and be the perfect complement to Qatar’s other three destinations in Thailand.
Al Baker noted that travellers would be treated to Qatar Airways’ fabled hospitality and premium services when en route to Chiang Mai. He finished off by saying that with one change in Doha, passengers boarding at airports in locations such as New York, Manchester, Copenhagen and Moscow could seamlessly reach Chiang Mai.
Qatar Airways has released timetables for its Doha to Chiang Mai services. QR822 will depart from Doha at 20:05 on Tuesdays, Thursdays, Saturdays and Sundays. Arrival time in Chiang Mai is 06:00 the following morning. This means outbound flights from Chiang Mai to Doha will operate on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays. Departure times are 07:10 and arrival time in Doha is 10:55. All times are local.
