Chiang Mai’s Le Meridien Hotel is holding two fun runs this Sunday (24 September) in aid of the Baan Mitratorn Orphanage. The city’s International Exhibition and Convention Centre (CMECC) is the start point for two runs on Sunday morning. Runners will follow two courses. The first is a short three-kilometre circuit while the mini-marathon course is eight kilometres long.
Le Meridien’s Facebook page notes the application date to take part in Run to Give 2017 has now expired. The page has a reminder for runners who paid THB300 for the fun run and THB350 for the mini-marathon that they need to pick up their T-shirts from Le Meridien or CMECC on Saturday between 09:00 and 18:00.
The runs promise to be exciting for spectators and there is always the opportunity of giving a little donation to help children in need. People who do want to watch will have to get up early on Sunday. A warm-up session will take place at 05:30 and will be followed by the start of the mini-marathon 30 minutes later. The fun run will start at 06:15 and prize-giving ceremonies at 07:00.
All those who complete the runs will get finishing line medals. The first five mini-marathon runners to cross the finish line will be awarded trophies. All proceeds from Run to Give 2017 are being donated to Baan Mitratorn.
The orphanage is located in the Chiang Dao area of Chiang Mai Province and is around 70kms north of the Old City. The facility is dedicated to the care and wellbeing of children with HIV or AIDS, those orphaned by AIDS and other disadvantaged children. Baan Mitratorn currently houses 46 youngsters.
