Several Chiang Mai pubs, cafés and restaurants will be serving Christmas dinner this year. Visitors and expats opting to dine out on Christmas Eve or Christmas Day will be able to enjoy an authentic taste of home with turkey, Christmas pudding and all the trimmings. Popular Chiang Mai eateries including the Art Café, the Red Lion English Pub and the Duke’s restaurant chain are serving Christmas dinner.
The Art Café at Thapae Gate serves an American style Christmas dinner over the festive season through to the New Year. The meal comprises turkey, baked or mashed potatoes, vegetables and pumpkin pie. The price for the standard 2017 Christmas dinner is THB499 and includes tea or coffee. An extra THB100 includes a starter and a glass of wine. Dinner for the under 12s is THB270.
The dinner at the Red Lion is traditional English and features a choice of starters, roast turkey, roast potatoes, English sausages, seasonal vegetables, stuffing, cranberry sauce and either a Christmas pudding garnished with brandy sauce or German style stollen cake with cream. Christmas dinner at the Red Lion is available on the 24 and 25 December and costs THB750. The Red Lion is located in the Night Bazaar area.
Three of the Duke’s branches are serving Christmas dinners for gourmands. The Christmas dinner at the Duke’s Ping River is a buffet with the obligatory roast turkey and stuffing plus mashed potatoes, ribs, salads including Caesar, cheese cake, white chocolate cake with strawberries and cream, and much more. The buffet is THB1,450 per person and available from 14:00 to 21:30 on Christmas Day only.
A special Christmas Dinner served at the Duke’s restaurants in both the Maya and the Promenada shopping malls gives the choice of ham at THB495 or rib-eye steak at THB1,250. Both outlets are serving dinner on the 24 and 25 December. Booking at the above establishments is recommended as there is always significant demand for western style Christmas dinners in Chiang Mai.
