Celebrating Songkran the traditional way at Lok Moli Temple

Date: 13-15 April 2017

At a media briefing earlier this month, Bangkok Airways extended an open invitation for people to attend traditional Songkran ceremonies at a Chiang Mai temple. Area managers for the boutique carrier explained that Wat Lok Moli will mark the Sonkran Festival with the sprinkling of waters on Buddha statues.

Chiang Mai governor Pawin Chamniprasart listened intently on the 3 April as a spokesperson stated that water-guns and water pistols would be banned from the temple. The spokesperson carried on by saying there would be a market with vendors selling old-style Lanna snacks and delicacies.

Any profits derived from the sales will be used to maintain and enhance Wat Lok Moli.
