Bangkok Airways has added to travel choices between Chiang Mai and Northern Laos with the launch of a three times a week service. The self-styled Thai boutique airline inaugurated Chiang Mai-Luang Prabang flights on the 2nd of April and joins Lao Airlines in offering service on this route.
Bangkok Airways operates round-trip services on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays. Take off times from Chiang Mai are 16:30 and arrival in Luang Prabang is at 17:45. Return flights depart at 18:30 and land back at Chiang Mai International Airport at 19:45. Bangkok Airways has deployed ATR 72-600 aircraft to serve the route and these are configured for 70 passengers.
Lao Airlines and Bangkok Airways fly on different days. Passengers wishing to book Bangkok Airways’ flights can do so on the airline’s website or by calling 1771, if in Thailand, or +662270 6699 when calling from overseas. Although a full-service airline, Bangkok Airways sells tickets in the manner of a low-cost carrier. Passengers who book in advance are able to save on standard fares.
